I gotta admit, I was tempted to break my newsletter streak and mail this one in. As I type this, my stepdaughter, son-in-law, and 1.5-year-old grandson are on their way back to Kansas after visiting us for a few days. As you get older, you forget how much damned work a toddler is. That would have wiped me out under the best of conditions. Problem is my wife and I both started getting sick on Monday night, and were in hell by Tuesday morning: cough, cold, sore throat, chills. I’m still miserable today (midday Wednesday), but I’ve got a pretty lengthy streak going and figure I better save an off-week for when I’m truly down and out. Time to get back in the saddle, dammit!

Yeah, that about sums up QB Farm Team’s season. While my namesake played well (Purdy for 31, Brissett on the bench and looking for a new home for 25 points), and Jeremiyah Love showed signs of life, the rest of the team is just meh. The matchup came at just the right time for Urban Achievers, who has struggled to this point, but made quick work of me, 119.84 – 92.36, to get to 2-1 despite being toward the bottom in Points For. Getting Bowers back will help Redman; losing Achane for the year? Not so much. Time will tell if the Achievers have enough juice to make a run for another ‘ship.

Another week, another loss for Buzzystinger, this time to the Packer Hater, 78.58 – 135.60. That being said, ole Buzzy has had a little luck lately, grabbing Keenum off the scrap heap to the tune of 24.48 points, as well as getting new life for JJ McCarthy in NY. As for Alex, he wants us to feel bad for him with Josh Allen and Kenny Walker in the lineup, all because he also had to start Geno and his 26.04 points en route to his 3-0 record. Cry for him, fellas. Life sure is hard.

As I look around the dung heap Buzzy and I find ourselves in, I’m a little surprised to see Science Walrus next to us. Granted, injuries are part of the problem (Dart, Caleb, AJB), but Brent’s team is deep enough to weather those issues, in theory. Unfortunately, Drake Maye has yet to reach double-digit points in a game, Hampton seems to be in a time share, Etienne is struggling, and the list goes on and on. Might be able to sneak by the other turds in the league with those ailments, but Growler Prowler is too tough for that, winning 118.46 – 87.38 and improving to 2-1. As for Brent…come on in, my friend. You get used to the smell after a while.

After opening the season strong, The Analrapists lost a heartbreaker to the Achievers last week. This week? Well, this week got away from Ted. Early-game injuries to Coker and Jefferson coupled with lackluster games from the remaining starters made for a lopsided battle with Evil Empire, 79.28 – 149.28. Ted’s team is tough to figure out so far, but feels like he could make a push if his horses all hit at once. As for Evil Empire, another win means it’s back to the grocery store to keep that luck a-rollin’. It sounds like management tried to get out in front of their Skeletor problem in Week Three, but their strongly worded sign ended up causing even more issues.

And last, Johnnie got a feel for his situation and came up with a new team name. Sadly for him, it was dead-on, as he found himself in a Fantasy Nightmare with the Woodster, losing 114.98 – 191.34 (good enough for 3rd all-time on the High Score list). I mean, how awesome is that box score for Zach?!

The funny part is that Johnnie thinks the loss and his inability to draft people in the near future is the nightmare part of his fantasy. Wait until he sees what the Woodster has planned for his post-victory celebration.

Best of luck in Week Four, fellas!
Andy
