I can’t speak for your collective locales, but the Covid numbers are starting to explode in my area. Gone are the days when the virus was just a nebulous menace in someone else’s backyard. At this point I know all kinds of people who have had it, getting as close to me as my own wife and in-laws, who got it about a month ago. Fortunately they all had fairly mild cases and have since recovered for the most part. I know other people who haven’t fared so well, from one instance of a family friend being paralyzed for a period of time to another family friend passing away. As someone with a compromised immune system, there are days it feels like the walls are closing in as I try to take as many precautions as possible. I’m not far from getting to this point, truth be told.

While I’ve been able to keep myself healthy with careful planning, one thing I wasn’t able to prepare for was my 137.34 – 104.56 drubbing from Team ZaWood. It seems like I was robbed in that I had the third most points and was unlucky enough to play the week’s top team, but the matchup was nowhere near as close as it looks. With the exception of some late-game theatrics by my Allen-Murray QB duo, no one else came to play. By week’s end, the Woodster made my Kupp runneth over, and not at all in a good way.

The loss left the door wide open for the Evil Empire to leapfrog me and regain the top spot. Unfortunately for Scott, bye weeks and underperforming replacements sunk his chance at glory. Well, that, *and* The Analrapist slipping him Pavlov’s log en route to an 81.32 – 63.54 victory. Despite having the lowest Points For in the league, the win keeps Ted in fifth place with only three weeks to go in the season. Mr T was so excited by the prospect of a playoff run that he took care of business the only way he knew how.

Ted wasn’t the only one who took advantage of the top two teams’ losses. ScienceWalrus had to scratch and claw his way past The Punishers, but a win is a win, even if it’s an 82.70 – 80.34 squeaker. With the second most points in the league, Brent is firmly at the head of the 6-4 teams and entrenched in third place. As for Josh, I’m starting to think “The Punishers” might be a little too tough-sounding for his team name. It’s probably time to change to something like, oh, I don’t know…?

Not to be outdone by his league-mates, Growler Prowler showed he’s still championship material, drowning The Underachievers 100.90 – 80.70. Did you happen catch the press conference afterwards? In it, Scott offered a bunch of coach-speak: “Yes, Redman is the worst team in the league, but there are no easy wins in The Terrible Ten,” followed up by “Redman has a great team of wily veterans and up-and-coming rookies that make him a tough beat,” and finishing with “The Underachievers could just as easily be 9-1 if a few bounces had gone their way.” It was all very kind and cliche, but Cody wasn’t impressed.

Bringing up the rear, Buzzystinger found a way to slow the The Wiz with an impressive 113.14 – 82.32 win. The loss was a tough one for Alex, dropping him to 5-5 on the season and moving him out of the playoff hunt; Bryon, on the other hand, kept his slim playoff hopes alive. It’s almost like if Buzzy traded for a stud running back maybe he’d have a better chance at making an epic run?

Best of luck in Week Eleven, fellas!
Andy
p.s. Two notes: first, this week is the trade deadline. All deals need to be accepted prior to the end of the week in order to be processed; second, still looking for payment from a few guys. My info can be found in the Sleeper chat by clicking on the “pin” icon. Thanks!
