2025 Week Five Recap

Finally, mercifully, the Fantasy Gods have seen fit to take it easy on us this week. Numerous players took short breaks mid-game, but most came back. The biggest injury to this point is Omarion Hampton, who had looked fantastic the past couple weeks in the bell-cow role. Now, it’s off to IR to nurse that ankle back to health. Fortunately for him, he’ll have plenty of folks to keep him company.

Not that that’s any consolation to Science Walrus. In a season that started slow and then saw an uptick from his excellent rookie performances, the injury to Hampton hurts. I mean, he lost to the damned Buzzystinger, 125.52 – 127.54, giving the last-place team its first win of the season! Bryon wants to give credit for the win to the cadre of Browns (both past and present) in his starting lineup. Me? I think there’s a little more to this Hampton ankle injury than Buzzy wants to admit.

I’m happy Bryon got the win, mainly because it means if he can get a victory with a squad full of rejects, QB Farm Team should be able to do it too, right?!

Ok, so, I guess I was wrong. Ends up that getting .5 total points from your two RBs and a doughnut from the TE position isn’t conducive to winning a weekly matchup. Add in the fact that Puff’s Punishers had massive scores across the board and, well, it got ugly. Like 71.76 – 158.24 ugly. Phew. This is gonna be a lonnnnnnng season for the QB Farm Team. The only good thing is it should be fairly easy to make room for my six draft picks next spring.

Week Five had a clash of the titans, as Evil Empire and Urban Acheivers renewed their rivalry. And what a matchup it was! Redman got off to an early lead with a big game from CMC on TNF, but both teams jockeyed back and forth all throughout the weekend. It took until deep into the MNF matchup for Mahomes to score just enough points to put Evil Empire over the top, 132.80 – 129.58, protecting Scott’s perfect record and keeping him atop the standings. Due to the late hour, not much was open for Skeletor’s celebratory dinner. Thankfully, McD’s was there to bail him out.

Other Scott started 3-0 before losing a squeaker last week to Packer Hater. Unfortunately, the same thing happened this week, as his two top RBs were quiet (his best RB, courtesy of a trade with QB Farm Team, was riding the bench) and The Analrapists came to play (thanks in no small part to another QB Farm Team trade for Michael Carter), turning Growler Prowler into a Howler after losing 132.22 – 137.98. Oof. That one hurt.

And finally, who would have thunk Packer Hater vs ZaWood would be such a strong matchup in Week Five this year? Both teams came into the week 3-1, both were on winning streaks, and both had been putting up massive point totals. Each brought their A-game, but The Propagator was stronger than The Hater, giving ZaWood the 143.62 – 136.44 victory. The win moves Zach into 2nd place (!!) on the season, raising him to full mast and unable to contain it anymore.

We’re light on byes this week, but there is yet another early game on Sunday. Watch those lineups. Best of luck in Week Six, fellas!

Andy
