And just like that…

Making it through fourteen weeks of fantasy football has felt a little like Frodo carrying the ring to Mordor. With injuries and poor play and benchings around every corner, it’s been a long road to get to this point. But, as always, the cream has a way of rising to the top.

Not much of note happened this week, outside of a couple slight adjustments. The biggest one was my QB Farm Team making it out of number two and rising to the top spot in the standings. It wasn’t because of anything I did — I had a gimme against Buzzystinger this week — but it still felt good to get back in the win column with a near double-up, 160.82 – 86.30. After winning 11 of my last 12, I look forward to the bye week so I can mentally prepare myself for getting bounced from the playoffs next week.

No, the reason I moved up had more to do with Urban Achievers butting up against his regular-season kryptonite, The Analrapists. In a season that saw Ted sneak by with relatively low point totals week-to-week, he exploded all over Redman to the tune of 164.44 – 137.24, thanks in large part to his Jefferson-Addison stack going off for 64 points. It makes the second time this season The Analrapists bent over Urban Achievers. Will it happen a third time in the playoffs?

Packer Hater decided to get Josh Allen off his bench and put the chump back in his lineup. The result? Oh, only 51.88 points and a 170.50 – 98.32 beatdown of Science Walrus. The great debate this offseason will be if Alex should have stayed the course, keeping those trade-deadline assets and trying to make a run for the playoffs. Time will tell if he kicks himself for waving the white flag. As for Brent, he has a pile of picks in the upcoming draft, yet it remains to be seen if he can use them to get the playoffs back on his horizon.

It was a rough year for the two Scotts. Scotty of the Evil Empire came into the season as the favorite (how could he not?), but never got much traction; Scott of the Growler Prowler started the season hot, but fell apart down the stretch. After Evil Empire beat Growler Prowler 126.54 – 97.68 this week, both teams finished at 8-6, coming in 5th and 6th in the standings. That being said, I’m guessing no one really wants to face these former champs come playoff time. Say what you will about the Scotts, when the real battles begin, they’re as no-holds-barred as it gets.

And last, we come to ZaWood. Like Brent, I assume Zach had high hopes for this season, especially after reloading with young talent each of the last two years. While ZaWood came on late, he took too many bad beats earlier in the season to stay in the mix. While he was already done coming into Week Fourteen, his 146.44 – 152.32 loss to Puff’s Punishers put the final stamp on what could have been. And now, another nine months of the sadz.

Round One starts with The Analrapists vs Growler Prowler and Evil Empire vs Puff’s Punishers. Both matchups should be excellent.
Reminder for Alex, Zach, Bent (yes, it’s misspelled, but it made me laugh so it’s staying), and Bryon: the Toilet Bowl bracket starts this week. Winner gets an extra $5 of FAAB from each of the losers in 2025. If that’s not enough to keep you interested, I don’t know what is!

Best of luck in Round One, fellas!
Andy
