2023 Week Four Recap

The 2023 season has had plenty of eyebrow-raising moments to this point — the injuries, the studs scoring next to nothing, the no-names going bonkers — but things in The Terrible Ten have pretty much played out like we expected so far. Week Four, on the other hand, had some big moments for the league. Let’s dive right in and see what happened, shall we?

Per usual, Puff’s Punishers had been rolling people right out of the gate. However, Week Four started on an ominous note when Josh left David Montgomery’s 33.10 points from TNF on his bench, and it didn’t get better from there. That might work against some teams, but Packer Hater isn’t “some team.” The reining co-champ didn’t have many misses in his lineup on the way to a 121.20 – 102.72 victory, leaving him in 1st place overall. Oh, and he’s the only undefeated team left in the league, if you can believe it.

[If this doesn’t jinx Alex, I don’t know what will.]

“But wait, how are there no other undefeated teams?” you ask. “Wasn’t Evil Empire crushing hopes and dreams one week at a time as well?!” It’s true that Skeletor has been beating people for what seems like Eternia, but it appears the league’s supervillain finally met his match with The Analrapist. Don’t ask me *how* Ted did it when he got zero points from Addison and almost zero points from Olave, but he did it, winning 99.82 – 89.76. If that’s not getting boned, I don’t know what is.

It should come as no surprise that Urban Achievers is finally getting some traction this season. What *is* a surprise is how he’s doing it. Guys like Burrow, Chase, Hall, Pitts, and Etienne are kind of floundering, which should hurt any team’s chances. But when you have CMC, AJ Brown, and rookie sensation De’von Achane to pick up the slack, things turn out ok. And hell, it was better than ok this week, as Redman clubbed Science Walrus, 163.78 – 99.58, dropping Brent to 0-4 and damn-near closing the door on his playoff chances this season. So much for *that* experiment.

[The good news is that flames make for a smoother transition to the impending fire sale…]

And then we come to the damned QB Farm Team. I guess, ultimately, my team pooping the bed isn’t as surprising as Buzzystinger going off, led by an incredible day from Stefon Diggs (6 of 7 for 120 yards and 3 TDs). It still went down to the wire last night, as Daniel Jones’ rushing yards were just enough to overcome his ineptness as a passer, giving Buzzy the 107.66 – 104.46 win when MNF wrapped up. Or, so I heard, anyway. It was tough to see the screen after doing battle with the King Bee.

And last, we come to Growler Prowler’s very impressive win over ZaWood, 141.26 – 85.34. Don’t get me wrong, it was a nice game for Scott with solid play from the QBs, Puka Nacua being a helluva find for him, blah-blah-blah. I guess my happiness for the former champ is dampened by my disappointment over Zach’s team. After starting the season with a win and putting up massive points in successive losses, this past week it was back to a low point total and a player in the lineup that wasn’t even active. Appears I may have set the bar too high for this Wood.

Byes start this week, so watch those lineups. Best of luck in Week Five, fellas!

Andy
