2019 Week Three Recap

Feels like I could open every newsletter with a comment on the current week’s injuries (Barkley’s ankle being the most recent HUGE story), but let’s shift gears to the young QBs who have been lighting it up this year. Mahomes is still a man among boys. Brissett and Minshew have been serviceable QBs after being thrown to the wolves early on. This past week Kyle Allen turned heads, throwing four TDs on the road. But the one that makes me happiest of all is Daniel Jones, who has been mocked pretty much every step of the way as being an awful pick by the Giants. Even Baker Mayfield took some shots at him in the preseason, which seemed funny at the time….but Jones’ 34.24 points in Week 3 is more than Mayfield’s 34.10 points IN THE FIRST THREE WEEKS COMBINED! Phew. I’m guessing that’s a tough one to swallow.

[Nom-nom-nom.]

You know what else is tough to swallow? Scoring the second most points for the week and losing the matchup! That’s exactly what happened when Brent took me to the woodshed for a 174.88 – 144.04 ass-whooping at the hands of Mike Evans and Russell Wilson (41.00 and 41.34 points, respectively). Man oh man, I haven’t been able to sit since Sunday!

The league’s other undefeated team – Alex’s Packer Haterz – was also met with defeat, in this case with a 104.22 – 78.14 drowning by Palmquist’s Growler Prowlers. After tallying decent scores in the first two weeks, Alex’s squad laid an egg, putting up the lowest score to date in our young league. As for Scott, it’s fair to say he’s feeling pretty fat and sassy right now.

Boy oh boy.  Make a joke about a guy’s dick and he gets a little pissy, as was the case when the Scottsmen put the Great back in their team name after a 142.70 – 107.90 drubbing of the Analrapists.  I hear that Ted was pretty confident he’d get back to his winning ways before the week started.  After the games got rolling?  Not so much.

After being destroyed by yours truly last week, ZaWood “rose to the occasion” and took out the Redshirtfreshmn by a score of 135.44 – 97.32. Thinking he’d gained some traction after his late victory last week, it was a heartbreaking setback for Cody. Later, Zach added insult to injury by getting up close and personal with his namesake. Poor, poor Redman.

Last and oh-so-least, Puff’s Punishers squashed BuzzyStinger, 109.38 – 95.34. I’d offer Josh my congratulations for achieving his second win on the season, but I’m not so sure it’s that he won the game as much as Bryon lost the game. You see, I’m beginning to see a trend for the last couple weeks, and it’s not a good one.

[Week Two Award.]

[Week Three Award.]

[I just can’t watch anymore.]

Best of luck in Week Four, fellas!

Andy
