I’m beginning to think I understand why Brent and Osterloh said Zach is so chill. He was certainly cool as ice during the draft, being the only owner who knocked out all four positions in the first four rounds, creating a *very* solid foundation for his team. As for the rest? Let’s take a look at:
Zach (Team ZaWood)
Strongest Position(s): RB
Kamara was an easy way to get the ball rolling, but he can’t score points all by himself. Fortunately, Zach’s added some nice complementary players, from Tevin Coleman moving into the starting job in SF, to backs like Guice and Howard who are trying to assert themselves in cluttered backfields. Plenty to be happy about here.
Weakest Position(s): WR
When he’s on the field, they don’t come much better than Keenan Allen. After that, though, Zach has a lot of unproven talent. Don’t get me wrong: I like the idea of going young (I employed the same strategy on my team), but until the WRs prove it, they’re just pies in the sky for now.
Best Value: The aforementioned Tevin Coleman is a steal at 9.3. Immediately upon being traded from ATL, it sounded like Coleman was going to be a change-of-pace back. But, with yet another injury to McKinnon (a player I’ve never thought was very good anyway) and other uninspiring options, Coleman has suddenly become an interesting play. As it turns out, SF may end up being desperate for him to carry the load; Jimmy G. may excel at banging porn stars, but his football skills have been lackluster this preseason.

Eyebrow Raiser: D.J. Moore
This one is probably more of my own bias than anything. I wouldn’t mind Moore being on my team, but in this case, 5.3 is a little steep for my liking, especially with some of the other established players that were on the board in that round (Henry, Engram, Golladay, Freeman, Hilton, etc). Then again, maybe he takes the next step and I look like a fool. It would be far from the first time, especially in fantasy…

Sleeper: Justin Jackson
While I feel confident in drafting Zeke and Gordon for the long-term, of the two, I think Gordon is much more likely to miss time this season. If so, it will pave the way for Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson to showcase their abilities. It’s my belief that Jackson is the better of the two, and if he can show anything while Gordon is out, it wouldn’t surprise me if LA sends Melvin packing and uses their other backs instead.
Overall Score: B
It’s hard for me to find many flaws with this team. I like the diversity of the roster, and think Zach has selected some great young talent. If even some of the players like Guice, Sutton, Darnold, Thomas, Smith, etc. take it to the next level, ZaWood will be sporting his surname wherever he goes.
