Well, the high of the draft is over. When people offered up their overall thoughts the following morning, I think Ted summed it up best:
“A mix of excitement, shame, and regret. So basically the start of every FF season.”
My draft report cards will attempt to put those feelings on display, breaking down each team’s successes and failures. Yes, this is only one person’s opinion, but really, mine is the only one that matters, amiright?!

I’ll try to write one of these per day, taking them in draft order, starting with:
Josh (Puff’s Punishers)
Strongest Position(s): RB
Half the battle is already won with Barkley as the starting point. By adding a large array of RBs — starters vs handcuffs, veterans vs rookies — I think there’s a nice mix to work with.
Weakest Position(s): QB and TE
Three QBs in the stable, two of which are only a few years or one injury away from retirement. Add in Big Ben’s home/road issues (plus losing AB) and Rivers struggling in cold-weather locales, and this could be a tricky crew.
Seems crazy that I would list TE when Josh has Kelce, but with an aging Greg Olsen and a no-name third-stringer from Green Bay, there’s no depth to be found.
Best Value: Adrian Peterson
I gave Josh shit for being a homer, but he just drafted a mid-RB2 (using last year’s stats) with the last pick in the 20th round. Washington’s backfield is full, and Guice is back in the mix, but AP should get enough action (especially if someone else is injured) to more than pay for that pick.
Eyebrow Raiser: Sammy Watkins
Watkins is one of those players with all the talent in the world, but can never stay on the field long enough to put it all together. Spending the first pick of the 9th round on a WR60’ish player isn’t worth it for me.
Sleeper: Alexander Mattison
This isn’t a homer pick from me. Rather, I think Mattison gets play in the Vikings offense from the get-go, whether it’s spelling Cook to keep him fresh or taking over the backfield if Cook goes down (a very real possibility). Taking Mattison with the first pick in the 13th seems like a sound investment, and one that could pay off sooner rather than later.
Overall Score: B+
There’s more than enough here for Josh to not only make a run this year, but also stay competitive in the near future if his rookies pan out. QB and TE will be issues at some point, but for now, all should be well.
